I was inspired to experiment with making cowl necks because of this post over on Krisatomic. I’ve made a cowl neck tube before using a second hand sweater. You can see it here. It ended up turning into a hat. The sweater material was a little itchy so this time I made the tube using [...]

My hairbrained blog has passed the ten thousand hits a day mark. It strikes me as odd since I barely maintain it and I only post haircuts that would work for my fine straight hair. I have a haircut scheduled for today. I’m going to keep the style I have now — center part/mid length [...]

I stumbled upon a new book in the library about Frida Kahlo’s wardrobe. It is a gorgeous picture book. I stopped on this one photo because I love the way she has wrapped the scarf around herself. It almost looks like the scarf is a mobius strip.

In the picture above they are looking through electronic wires that will be “incorporated into the shoes for their spring [...]

I made this bag from a vintage typerwriter dust cover. I found the material in a fabric junk pile at Goodwill. I couldn’t resist that avocado color and circle/petal pattern. The material is almost like oil cloth. It is very difficult to sew. I will probably never attempt it again. Live and learn.

I heard a neat story on NHPR about a vintage car junkyard in NH called Lane’s Garage. The junkyard takes up 22 acres. Can you imagine? 22 acres of beautiful old rusted vintage cars. It seems like a great resource for artists and crafters who use second hand or found objects in their work. I [...]
