So the Button Factory Open Studios was this past weekend. The energy wasn’t as high as last year but I did about the same. There were some highlights. For one — a woman I sold a dress to last year came in with a bag of old sweaters to donate to me. Another lady took my card so she could donate some sweaters to me that she’s been holding on to for a long while. And the coffee guy on the first floor — thank goodness for him.
But the piece de resistance of the weekend was a group of carolers that just showed up unannounced. They walked into a large open studio and started singing. I was out in the hallway. The artist came out confused and said — “there are people singing in my studio.” I ran in with my camera and caught the tail end of the song. That is me whoo hooing at the end. I get choked up by this sort of random act of beauty.
May your day be merry and bright.
