jean quilt

The jean quilt is finished. I dropped it off at the auction committee office this morning.  Overall, I am pleased with it but I definitely learned some things the hard way in the process.

  1. I love the quilt. It is really interesting the way you placed the different types of denim fabric and different sizes of blocks. the yellow also added a very effective ‘pop’ colour! I am impressed you also finished the project! I will be pinning this on Pinterest for others to enjoy.

  2. I really like your quilt. I am thinking of making a jean quilt also and would love to know some of the things you learned the hard way. Enjoy your blob

    • Hey Anne, Sorry it took me so long to respond. Working full time and taking care of small children keeps me pretty busy. The number one thing I learned the hard way is to not machine quilt a quilt without being trained how to do it first. I tried machine quilting the pieces together and it looked so bad that I spent hours taking the stitches out with a seam ripper. In the end I just tacked the layers together with well placed hand stitches. I much prefer it this way. Someday I hope to take a workshop on how to machine quilt, but until then I’ll stick to hand quilting.

  3. found your quilt on pintrest, have bee collecting old jeans for years now with the intention of making a quilt, you have inspired me to finally do it…

  4. I love the jean quilt !!!!!! I never thought to do it with longer sections of jeans. I was planning on doing small squares. Cool.
