It used to be that the only reason I would go to the Mall was for bras and underwear. I buy my clothes at thrift stores or consignment shops and I buy my shoes at local boutiques.
When I discovered Pansy at Folk in Kittery, Maine, I no longer had any reason to go to the Mall. Woo Hoo! Pansy products are made in California from 100% organic, USA-grown cotton. No padding, no underwire. Just cotton & elastic.
Now obvi, this kind of bra is not what you want to wear if you need serious lift but these are great if comfort is a priority for you and if you are okay with your boobs resting a little lower on your chest. Maybe we should just get over that whole push-up thing.
At some point in the last year, I started following Etain, a lingerie boutique in Portland, Maine, on Instagram. I love their body positive messaging. They recently had a fabulous looking fashion show. I missed it because of work. So bummed about that. #nextime
It was through Etain that I learned about Brook There. Brook There also offers organic cotton lingerie made in the USA. I especially love their blue marble set. You can learn more about the company through Brook’s blog.
The thing that prompted me to write this post was an email from a company out of Barcelona called Lov . On their website, Lov says they want to reshape what it means to be sexy. They want to offer products for women who define themselves through what they want and NOT how they look. They explicitly state that their images are not photoshopped.
It’s nice that there is a clear alternative message rising to the top in terms of women’s lingerie. It is brands like these that I want to support. Brands that promote body positivity, comfort, and empowerment.
