Join me for a fun and relaxed hand dyeing workshop. To start, we will mix a soda ash bath and prep squares of fabric. We will review folding and tying techniques. Both immersion dyeing and multicolored direct application dyeing will be covered. Students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to bring personal projects to work on (aprons, socks, shirts, pillowcases, towels, etc.) This is a great opportunity to make a personal holiday present for a friend or family member. Just remember — your personal items need to be made of natural materials, like cotton, silk or linen.
This past May, I participated in a workshop with the modern master of tie-dyeing, Shabd Simon-Alexander. Shabd even taught Martha Stewart how to tie-dye! I learned so much in Shabd’s workshop, but the best thing that I learned was how fun and meditative dyeing can be. When all the measuring and prep work is done it’s just about working with your hands and playing with color.
I hope you can join in the fun! xo jam

P.S. The last hour or so of the class is for students to work on personal projects. If you need to skip out a little early, you can.
